Yeah, I know it's early but I love talking draft/FA and capoligist talk; so...this is my ideal offseason. Thoughts?

1.) Extend Dansby!
2.) Extend Fitz to bring that huge cap # down next year
4.) re-work Gandy's deal (not worth the 7 mil he's due next year)
5.) Release Berry (doesn't seem to fit the 3-4 can't stay healthy and is 33 Y/O)
6.) re-sign Pace ONLY for a resonable deal (if he hits FA someone will over pay; don't let it be us)
7.) Let BJ walk (hasn't produced someone will overpay him...not us)
8.) Pursue Alan Faneca
9.) Pursue TE in FA (Lj Smith?)
10.) Pursue 3rd WR in FA
11.) Draft a 3-4 rush end and CB in rd's 1 & 2

I think something has to be done with Ross' deal as well. I also expect to see Arrington's role dramatically increase and he and Edge to split carries almost evenly. Somewhat of the same thing that was going on in NO before Duece blew his knee out. That is if we dont draft someone.

Pretty reasonable list

I am not sure about no.8 -- good player, but it would be a big contract for a guy on the downside, or darn close to it. I am willing to bet the team does not pursue a starting o lineman in the offseason, unless Gandy wants too large a number.

As for TE, they had a shot at Wiggins in this offseason and passed.

Wiggins would also be a nice option as a blocking TE in place of Smith. Probably cheaper too.

With Greg Olson showing something in Chicago, Desmond Clark may be a cheap option. He has one year left and have a roster bonus IIR on June 1st. He is 30 and seams to have been healthy for the past 4 years.

My list ..
We have about 25 million in cap dollars

1 Extend Carlos Dansby 36 Million over 6 years
2 Extend Calvin Pace 20 Million over 5 years
3 Extend Larry Fitzgerald dropping his cap hit from 15 million to about 8 Million
4 Release Bertrand Berry try to resign him for the 1-2 million a year ( we could use the vet leadership )
5 Release Oliver Ross
6 Pursue Terrell Suggs in FA ( Value might be somewhat low after this season )
7 Persue Alan Faneca in FA
8 Persue Randall Gay and Asante Samuels. Samuels will most likely not play here

A DE/OLB addition to consider:

Alex Brown of the Bears. Solid but unspectacular player -- averaged 7 sacks a year when a starter. Lost his job this year to Mark Anderson. A 4-3 player who is probably athletic enough to play the Cards hybrid style.

Fits the Cards style of non-premier type player -- (i.e. I think we can forget about the prospects of a Samuel, Briggs or Suggs being signed here)

I agree with most everyone. I think Ross should be kept for depth, he took a paycut and he isnt too over paid anymore.

We really should restructure Fitz to lower his cap hit.

Extend Dansby, extend Pace for a reasonable deal.

We need a change of pace RB, if JJ doesnt become that this year.

I still think Rolle plays saftey next year. I think Wilson would still make a very good LB.

Add a young CB, & add a LG.

No EDGE is still very productive when given solid blocking. But this team does need an explosive RB to complement James.

12) Release Edgerrin James
That's pretty extreme--especially considering we don't have another back capable of doing what he's done.

He needs a speedier compliment (maybe it's JJ, but I'm thinking of a guy who might be capable to be the starter in a year or so).

It'd be disastrous to cut Edge, IMO.

...get these guys and done/restructured and that's my "ideal" (tho' not very realistic) offseason.

He took a pay cut for this season only, not for next season.
