Middle Tennessee State men's basketball has revealed its second non-conference opponent in the 2026-27 college basketball season.
The Blue Raiders will make the short drive south to Huntsville for the fourth edition of the Rocket City Classic, where they're set to face Auburn on Dec. 15. The game will be held at Propst Arena, home of the Conference USA Tournament, at a time to be announced.
"It's an honor for our team to play in this year's Rocket City Classic," MTSU coach Nick McDevitt said in a news release. "We know that our season comes down to winning three games here in March and playing an outstanding Auburn team gives us great preparation for chasing the Conference USA title."

Auburn is the second non-conference opponent announced by MTSU in as many days, with the Blue Raiders confirming on June 2 they'll face Kansas for the first time in 26 years on Nov. 6 at Allen Fieldhouse. It continues MTSU's recent trend of tough non-conference scheduling, having faced Houston and eventual nation champion Michigan last season.
Auburn went 22-16 under coach Steve Pearl in 2025-26, winning the NIT championship over Tulsa after falling in the second round of the SEC Tournament to Tennessee. Auburn is 4-1 all-time against MTSU, but the two have not faced off since the 2017-18 season.
The remainder of MTSU's non-conference opponents will be announced at a later date.
