INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - MAY 16: Mike Perry strikes Nate Diaz in their welterweight bout during the main card of Netflix's Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano at Intuit Dome on May 16, 2026 in Inglewood, California. (Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images for Netflix) | Getty Images for Netflix
Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry was not a particularly competitive fight.
The duo dueled a couple months ago at the inaugural MVP MMA event, which aired on Netflix and featured the return of Ronda Rousey among several other high-profile matchups. For many longtime fight fans, the most anticipated clash was the Diaz vs. Perry, two men who seemed to promise a bloody war for however long the fight lasted.
Instead, the scrap was largely one-sided. Diaz landed some nice straight punches in the first round, but he was quickly worn down by Perry’s vicious clinch assault. Perry landed dozens of heavy punches, hard knees, and lots of elbows to brutalize Diaz and break his face to pieces. At the end of the second-round, the doctor intervened, halting the contest due to all of the cuts bleeding into Diaz’s eyes.
The damage tally after 10 minutes? 15 staples and 20 stitches.
Despite the bloody massacre, Diaz was optimistic about his chances and immediately asked for a rematch. Perry, meanwhile, was a bit bewildered but was open to a do-over, and MVP MMA executives also expressed interest in another scrap. On Monday, Diaz renewed calls for a rematch.
“Back in action upward movement,” Diaz wrote on X alongside a picture of him punching Perry. “Road to whoop this motherf—kers ass.’

Fan reaction was unanimously negative. Fans would prefer Diaz chase the McGregor trilogy or retire outright, as the 41-year-old scrapper has been fighting for a very long time now.
Check out a sample of the reactions:
“With all due respect brotha, we don’t want to see that fight again. Get McNuggets after this upcoming fight”
“You don’t need this Nate, save them miles for McGregor 3”
“At some point your camp has to be honest with you. Mikes going to murder you, fight lasts as long as he wants it to”
“Bro stop he’ll kill you again you had nothing absolutely nothing for him”
“Looks like your just trying to get your ass kicked for sum money again just retire and be a coach”
“Love you Nate. Last fight was pretty bad though, gotta be honest with yourself.”
If there are any dissenting voices who want to see Diaz vs. Perry 2, I’d love to hear ‘em in the comment section below.
