More bad news than good on 49ers 2nd practice report of postseason

The San Francisco 49ers got a sizable piece of good news during Thursday's practice, but their health situation continues to be dire as their wild card matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles draws nearer.

Left tackle Trent Williams returned to practice and was officially listed as a limited participant. While that doesn't guarantee he'll be available for the playoff opener it's certainly a better sign for his potential availability than if he'd missed the session.

Williams's return would be a substantial lift for a 49ers offense that scored only three points without him in Week 18.

Unfortunately for San Francisco, Williams's return was the only positive change from Wednesday's report. Linebacker Dee Winters, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and defensive end Keion White remained on the sidelines for the second time in as many practices.
