Monkees Singer Davy Jones Dead At 66

Davy Jones of the Monkees has died of an apparent heart attack at age 66. The singer – who had been on a solo tour this month - complained of chest pains last evening and was admitted to a hospital this morning in Stuart Florida.

Jones was born in Manchester, England and started acting as a child, though he got his big break in 1965 when he joined The Monkees. The group had a hugely successful television series, and a slew of hit songs in the late 1960s. At their peak in 1967 they sold more records than the Beatles.

RIP Davy. Although it was never cool to admit it, I've always enjoyed their music.

Sad, sad day. I loved the Monkees. Watched the reruns, went to the reunion concert...wore my concert t-shirt to bed for years. Was madly in love with Davy Jones as a teenager.

R.I.P. Davy, This bums me out on so many levels, the biggest one being last Summer when the Monkees less Mike were on the 45th anniversary tour I tried to get tickets to the show at The Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, CA. & it was SOLD OUT!!! Linderbee & Jersey Girl there are millions of girls just like you mourning Davy this morning!! Some of us are mourning our childhood....
