1. All the guys on PUP except Bryant Johnson will be activated within the nest two days. Dexter Jackson and Nathan Poole just had to prove they could work out.

2. LJ Shelton has lost 30 lbs. He says he expects to be a starter or be cut because he makes too much money. Right now he is backup LT.

3. Kenny King and Wendell Bryant kicked ass all morning and were singled out for praise by Dennis Green.

4. Full speed, full pads, 11 on 11. Bert Berry beat Big twice but BIG pancaked Berry several times too.

5. Kyle Vanden Bosch has found a home at LDE. He looks dominant and says he's near 100%, just rusty.

6. Shaun King threw short into the ground several times.

7. Adrian Wilson had a nice pick on a McCown misread.

8. The defense dominated and Green is not pleased with the effort of the oline. Too flat.

9. Right now the 3 WR set is Boldin, Fitz and Gilmore. Gilmore had several nice grabs. Kasper dropped his only grab. Worked more on the running game.

10. Saw no drills by type of unit - dbs, oline, etc. All drills were by entire offense only, defense only, or offense against defense.

11. Special teams drills were in the middle of the session, rather than before or after.

12. Very little time spent on warmups. Players had to be out early to do them before practice. Big change.

13. Green said the whole defense is very fast. Starks looked good. Overall pursuit was excellent. LBs are penetrating, not waiting, then pursuing.

14. WR Romby Bryant had a nice catch and run. Shipp and Anderson each had a nice run.

15. The 20 yd deep turn out and turn ins are back in the playbook.

Very good report for first practice. Especially KVB, Starks and Bryant all looking strong. Also, I think Shelton got Green's message loud and clear and he will NOT be cut.

Oh the advantages of lining up against Anthony Clement!

Glad that Bryant and Starks looked good, both key players this year.

At least LJ is showing commitment and that seems to be what Green wants.I wonder how long Green would wait to make a position change so he can learn the ropes at RT or LG.

Thank you Skkorp...it must be fun to watch the process in motion.

I really appreciate the time and effort. Us out-of-towners really need the fix.

Thanks again,

KAZ

Tough to be Shelton though. Let's face it we know why he was so out of shape, the surgery. So now he drops 30 pounds, we're all going to say see Green was right, when for all we know Shelton might have dropped the weight anyways once his rehab had gotten to the point where he could start
running again.

But it's great to hear that he's in shape and I do think he's right, if he doesn't win a starting spot he'll be traded or cut, he does make too much not to.

1. Media access is restricted to being a narrow ribbon in front of fans and part of the field is off limits to media too, only vips can use those other areas.

2. Everything is fast, fast, fast. Nobody stands unless they have just come out of a live scrimmage play. First offense played first defense, second team played second, then firsts played seconds, and so on.

3. Players are talking to the media but not saying much of anything. Just platitudes. Kendall's release shocked them all.

Shelton banked a seven million dollar check from the Cards nine months ago. Wish my life was that kind of "tough". ;)

Shelton has lost 30 lbs........losing weight does not necessarily translate into being in shape however (just an aside).

If he has lost 30 lbs. then he is down to 305......and that may or may not be the right playing weight for him......I dunno.

I'm excited about Wendall. Again as a sidebar, do you all realize that he was JUST BARELY over the legal limit on his DUI (.11 vs. .08). He was really stopped for "failing to come to a complete stop".

Starks/KVB playing at 100% is very good news indeed.

skkorp, what say you regarding McCown?

True but since then he's had surgery, predictably gained weight, and then been benched, all without doing a thing on the field.

I like SHelton, always have, he's not a superstar but he's a good player and I strongly suspect he'd have lost the weight whether he was benched or not.

1. That second string dline with Calvin Pace, Wendell Bryant, and KVB sure looked good. Denny said Pace and Berry might both play in the nickel package on 3rd down. And KVB might soon start if he stays healthy, IMO.

2. TE Lorenzo Diamond's mom died so he won't be here until Thursday. In his ansence, Mike Banks bobbled the only two passes thrown to him.

?

That's 30 pounds off last years playing weight, I got the impression he'd gained 20-25 after the surgery. I think he's closer to 320-325 than to 305, which is about 10-15 pounds off his 335 of last year.

KVB returning to being a starter, and actually being good, would be candidate for "feel good" story of the year.

Excellent report Skkorp. Does this mean you'll have at least this amount of access to future Camp practices?

I get the feeling Denny has a very good idea of what he wants to see right now from each unit. And if he doesn't see what he needs to see, he'll make the necessary moves to get what he wants. And if this means sitting or cutting a more talented player who isn't helping his unit play the way it needs to play in favor of a rookie or less talented player who can help his unit play the way Denny envisions it, he'll make that move without giving it 2 thoughts.
