Monaco to exercise purchase option on Ansu Fati

AS Monaco are reported to have decided to exercise the buy-out clause included in Ansu Fati’s (23) loan deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Loaned out by FC Barcelona last summer, the Spanish winger is therefore set to sign a permanent deal with the French club, which will pay €11 million to secure his services. The Blaugrana will, however, retain a percentage of any future sale of the Bissau-born player.

Having settled on Le Rocher following a mixed spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, Fati has regained his form under Sébastien Pocognoli. Long regarded as the future of Barça, he unfortunately saw his young career take a difficult turn due to the numerous injury setbacks that marred his early professional years. Setbacks that now seem – for the most part – a thing of the past.

Having made 28 appearances in all competitions (1,199 minutes played), the Spanish international with 10 caps (two goals) has found the net 11 times, including 10 in Ligue 1. In other words, he has been decisive once every 104 minutes.
