Mohamed Salah has opened up about the most technically skilled players he has played with at Liverpool.

According to him, Philippe Coutinho and an English teammate stand out for what they did during training sessions.

Salah has spent years at Anfield playing alongside some of the biggest names in football, but his pick for training pitch excellence is a bit more surprising.

Despite ongoing fitness issues, this player’s technical quality left a lasting impression on one of the club’s all-time greats.

During a media appearance for Liverpool and AXA, Salah was asked which player stood out to him most in training when he first arrived at the club.

The ‘Egyptian King’ wasted no time in naming Adam Lallana and Coutinho as the two who regularly caught his eye during sessions at Melwood and the AXA Training Centre.

Lallana may not have been the headline act during his six years at Liverpool, but his technical quality was never in question.

To be spoken of alongside Coutinho, whose £142 million move to Barcelona was built on similar qualities, is a huge compliment from someone of Salah’s standing.

Injuries were a constant obstacle throughout Lallana’s career, and Salah’s remarks leave many wondering how much more he could have achieved if he had stayed fit.

The Egyptian legend’s appreciation for technical quality is now being mirrored in his growing partnership with Florian Wirtz, who joined the club ahead of the new campaign.

After settling in following his high-profile move from Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz has started to demonstrate the kind of half-turn and vision that made him a standout in Germany. His ability to spot runs and break down tight defences has been exactly what Salah needs to play off.

As the season progresses, there is potential for them to build a real understanding on the pitch – one that could play a crucial role in whatever silverware Liverpool are able to chase down this season.
