If you're one of the teams who was reportedly bidding on a Tarik Skubal trade and your name isn't the Los Angeles Dodgers, we have bad news for you. He's now a Dodger.
So if you are a team in need of some serious rotation help as the 2026 MLB trade deadline arrives on Monday, who is there left on the market? Glad you asked. We have answers, at least according to the trade rumors and reports swirling ahead of the 6 p.m. ET deadline.
Here are some possible starting pitchers teams could deal for, in order of our take on the most talented:
Seattle just dealt Luis Castillo and it sounds like they're open to dealing Kirby, who has been reliable an consistent in his five MLB seasons -- he's head a sub-4.00 ERA in all but one year. If the Mariners decide to deal him now, his price may have gone up with Skubal off the market.
Since becoming a starter, he's proven he can carry the load in the rotation. And with him coming off a broken leg and free agency likely looming if he opts out, it's a perfect time for the Mets to deal him.
If you're not an Angels fan: Did you realize that Detmers has 145 strikeouts in 125 innings pitched? He's a mega-valuable lefty arm who could be a game-changer if the Angels deal him.
He's not having the best of seasons after his monster 2025. Still, he's a solid starter who could use a change of scenery -- maybe his stats aren't completely to blame on him.
The 35-year-old has a 4.38 ERA this year, but he's been a terrific front-line starter for years.
If the Angels decide to tear it all down, Soriano and his 3.29 ERA might fetch a great return.
Not sure if the Mariners want to deal this much starting pitching if they send Kirby to another team, but Hancock has been good in 2026.
Dude struggled in the majors, went to Japan and came back to pitch really well for the Nationals -- he's got a 12-3 record with a 3.06 ERA. An underrated name on the market who could be a difference-maker.
If you're the Tigers and you're selling with a Skubal deal, you might as well go all in and trade Mize and his 2.70 ERA this year.
