The New York Times reported Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams team Dr. Neal ElAttrache referred UFC star Conor McGregor to a specialist who prescribed the latter performance-enhancing drugs.
Matt Moret of The Athletic reported that MLB has spoken with ElAttrache about the situation and the doctor said his record was "completely clean including in this case."
ElAttrache has a long history of performing surgeries on high-profile athletes, including Aaron Rodgers (Achilles, 2023), Kobe Bryant (Achilles, 2013) and Shohei Ohtani (Tommy John surgery, 2018 and shoulder surgery, 2024).
The orthopedic surgeon also operated on former New England Patriots legendary quarterback Tom Brady's left knee in 2008 after the three-time MVP tore his ACL.
Brady suffered the most serious injury of his career during the first quarter of the Patriots' Week 1 game that year against the Kansas City Chiefs and missed the rest of the campaign.
One-time Pro Bowler Matt Cassel took over under center in New England and led the Patriots to an 11-5 record that season. That was the only time in a 17-year stretch that New England didn't make the playoffs.
