The 2026 MLB season is entering its ninth week. There has been tremendous baseball played in the early part of the season. Many players are making early cases for All-Star selections and yearly awards. There is a lot of baseball left, and the 2026 season has been extraordinary. Here are the top ten second basemen.

Entering the week, and through the first month and a half of the season, Brice Turang is MLB’s top second baseman. Entering the week, he leads Milwaukee’s offense in stolen bases and OPS. He’s on his way to a second consecutive NL All-Star selection.

Everything is going right for Brandon Lowe. He’s staying healthy and producing for a Pittsburgh team that is highly competitive. He’s due for a big season if he can avoid injury.
Atlanta is MLB’s top offense through eight weeks, and Ozzie Albies has played a significant role. Entering the week, his batting average and on-base percentage are the second-highest of his career. The veteran is on his way to another NL All-Star selection.
Edwards’ calling card isn’t power, but he gets on base often. Entering the week, Edwards is in MLB’s top 10 for hits. He’s become an underrated player at the second base position.
Entering the week, Wetherholt is in the top three in home runs among MLB second basemen. He is getting on base at a high rate and has put his bat-to-ball skills on display. The Cardinals have a future All-Star in JJ Wetherholt.

Hoerner has cooled off, but entering the week, he leads Chicago in hits, doubles, and RBI. The second baseman has been one of the catalysts in the Cubs’ hot start to the season. By the end of the season, Hoerner will be among the second base leaders in hits and stolen bases.
Everything is clicking for Ernie Clement, and he’s having a fantastic start to the 2026 season. Entering the week, he is in the top three in hits among MLB second basemen. The veteran continues to thrive after becoming a full-time starter in Toronto’s offense.
The White Sox are competing in the AL Central, and Chase Meidroth has made an impact. In his second season, Meidroth is showing the ability to consistently reach base. Entering the week, he leads the White Sox in hits.
Duran has received every day at-bats and is off to the best start of his career. A platoon player in his first four seasons, Ezequiel Duran, has taken over second base duties in place of the injured Josh Smith. His production can regress when Smith returns from the injured list.
Arraez continues to be a bright spot in one of MLB’s worst-producing offenses. The veteran leads the team in hits and on-base percentage. He is left stranded on base often, and this is correlated to San Francisco ranking last in runs and RBI.
