As Sophia Umstead competed in her last big meet before college, she once again proved she is one of the top swimmers in the country.
Umstead, who swims for Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics in Holland, made the finals in four events at the 2025 U.S. Junior National Championships in Irvine, California.
She saved her best for last, winning the bronze medal in the 200-meter individual medley on Sunday.
Umstead set her personal best in prelims in 2:16.77 then was even faster in finals, getting to the wall in 2:16.05.

If that wasn't enough, Umstead was one of just two swimmers to reach the finals in all three breaststroke events.
Umstead was sixth in the 50 breaststroke with a swim of 32.24 (32.18 in prelims).
She was seventh in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:32.66 after a swim of 2:31.86 in prelims.
She finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:11.19. She was even faster during prelims to earn a spot in the finals (1:10.47).
Now, Umstead will take her speed to the University of Virginia, the five-time defending NCAA champion.
