The Knicks still don't know who they are facing in the NBA Finals, but Mike Brown's team might be playing smaller than expected come next week.
On Thursday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Knicks backup center Mitchell Robinson suffered a fractured right pinky finger.
There weren't details as to how Robinson suffered the injury. But if Robinson is unable to suit up against the winner of the Spurs-Thunder series, Karl-Anthony Towns will likely be looking at an even larger workload.
According to Charania, there is no timetable for Robinson's return. Fractures can take anywhere between four and 12 weeks. There is also a risk of re-injury if he plays before it's fully healed.
Though Robinson's minutes have been limited in the playoffs given his free-throw struggles, he's still an elite rebounder. And with Robinson out of the lineup, the Knicks would have to turn to Ariel Hukporti as the backup center.
That wasn't what the Knicks wanted to hear heading into their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.
