Amid a playoff run for the ages, the New York Knicks and their fans received some stunning news on May 28.

According to multiple reports, key center Mitchell Robinson suffered a broken right pinky. There is currently no known timetable for his return from the injury, with the 2026 NBA Finals set to begin on Wednesday, June 3 against either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs.

Shams Charania of ESPN was the first to report the news.

Robinson, 28, is a critical part of the Knicks' frontcourt rotation. He is averaging 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14.2 minutes this postseason as New York won 11 straight games. He is also shooting 73.7 percent from the field while providing a strong interior presence on defense.
