Mizzou baseball’s 2026 season is finished.
The 16th-seeded Tigers lost 12-2 in seven innings to 8-seed Mississippi State in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, May 20, in Hoover, Alabama, which brings an official end to head coach Kerrick Jackson’s third season in charge of the program.
Missouri finished the season with a 24-31 record. The Tigers went 6-24 in SEC regular season play.
The Tigers needed to win their conference tournament to extend their season into an NCAA Regional.

Mizzou beat 9-seeded Ole Miss 10-8 on Tuesday in Hoover in the first round of the SEC Baseball Tournament. Missouri last won an SEC Tournament game in 2017, when the Tigers opened the postseason with a victory over Texas A&M in former head coach Steve Bieser’s first season with the program before losing two straight in what was then a double-elimination format to end their year.
Mississippi State (40-16) advances to face top-seed Georgia in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
Mizzou entered the sixth inning down 4-2 to the Bulldogs, but the Tigers gave up eight runs in the bottom of the sixth, including a pair of home runs, to go down double-digit runs and into run-rule territory.
Missouri went down in order in the top of the seventh to end the game.
Jackson is 63-102 since taking over as Mizzou’s head coach before the 2024 season. His current contract is signed through June 2028.
According to Jackson’s most-recent publicly available contract for employment, it would cost the university in the region of $1.1-1.2 million to terminate his deal without cause.
