Columbus Clippers 3, Toledo Mud Hens 8

Clippers fall to 15-15


The Clippers managed just three hits on Thursday, stringing them together in the third inning to score all three of the team’s runs.

Dayan Frias led the way on offense, going 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base. Juan Brito went 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch.

Starting pitcher Trenton Denholm wore it, allowing seven runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings. He walked four and struck out two. Rorik Maltrud was solid in long relief, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings with six strikeouts.

Akron RubberDucks 2, Harrisburg Senators 4

RubberDucks fall to 14-10


The score was close, but Akron had no chance in this one, getting outhit 12-3. Ralphy Velazquez had two of the team’s hits, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Joe Lampe went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base and Jake Fox walked twice.

Starting pitcher Dylan DeLucia was decent, allowing two runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Captains move to 12-12


In game one, Bennett Thompson led the way, going 2-for-3 with a double. Jaison Chourio went 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored and Aaron Walton went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.

Starting pitcher Braylon Doughty went just 2.0 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with a pair of strikeouts and no walks. Justin Garcia then got tattooed for six runs in 3.1 innings to put the game out of reach.

In game two, Lake County managed just two hits, but one of them was a huge one as Ryan Cesarini blasted a three-run home run.

Starting pitcher Rafe Schlesinger wasn’t great, allowing two runs on four hits in 2.2 innings with four strikeouts and a pair of walks, but the bullpen in game two was terrific.

Cam Schuelke tossed 2.1 scoreless frames with a pair of strikeouts and Luis Flores locked things down with 2.0 perfect innings and three strikeouts to earn his third save.

Hill City Howlers 7, Delmarva Shorebirds 9

Howlers fall to 14-10


Juneiker Caceres had a strong game, going 2-for-4 with a walk. Yelferth Castillo had the big hit, going 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in the ninth inning that almost brought Hill City back, but the rally fell just short.

Victor Izturis went 2-for-5 and Jonathan Martinez walked three times.

Starting pitcher Joey Oakie was knocked around for four runs on five hits in 3.0 innings. He struck out three and walked two.

His piggyback partner, Miguel Flores, was manhandled for five more runs in 2.0 innings to take the loss.
