Even though they finished the season 27-33, the Milwaukee Panthers were the Cinderella team of the season.

The landscape of college baseball nearly changed as UWM was one win away from advancing to the Super Regionals, and most importantly, knocking out No. 4 Auburn.

UWM picked up incredible wins over Auburn and UCF in games that showed everyone they deserved to be in the NCAA Tournament.

Now, the question is, why are they the only Division I baseball team in the state of Wisconsin?

Is it time for the Badgers to bring back their baseball program?

Now, more than ever, the timing feels right. UW has a chance to capitalize on the momentum that Milwaukee had as they fell one game short of advancing to the Super Regionals.

It doesn't seem likely that Wisconsin could churn out an entire baseball program overnight, but its softball team continues to be successful, and it's alarming to see UW as the only team in the Big Ten without a baseball team.

At the end of the day, Badgers fans shouldn't expect a baseball team anytime soon, but it would be nice to see the program return, especially with how much damage Milwaukee did with a roster that is arguably half as good as what UW could assemble.
