I just listened to a cardinals podcast on my cardinals app, Mike jurecki said he spotted Jon gruden at the hotel in Indy for the combine, interesting what gruden had to say. Said he introduced himself as working for the cardinals & gruden said he knows Steve keim. Went on to say he hasn't heard from keim but would be interested in trading for our #1 pick. Jurecki asked him what he would give up in order to get it? His response............."I'll give you the #4 pick & a 3rd rounder". Probably said in jest just being gruden but hell no if he meant it? If they trade down with the raiders for #4, the raiders need to give up one of the other 1st round picks also, not a 3rd. I'm hoping the cardinals can trade the three compensatory picks to possibly get into the 4th or 5th rounds for players, mainly because the players in the late rounds aren't gonna make the team anyways. You never know though, JE with the Patriots was a 7th round pick but the percentages say otherwise on the late rounds picks. Diamonds in the rough so to speak but I'd much rather draft more players in the earlier rounds.

I really dont think this draft is going to garner normal value for a #1 pick. If there was a cant miss QB prospect that would be the only way i could see that kind of a haul.

If the raiders want our first pick it would cost them their 1, #27 and their 2nd (#35) according to the draft trade value chart.
It's been said many times, they don't use the draft value chart league-wide. It's not an awful guideline for the fans, but it's not doctrine. Especially considering the one everyone is using is like 20+ years old at this point.

Absolutely. This is just a guideline. There is no way we trade the first pick for anybody’s 1 and 3.

I would do that every day of the week and twice on Sunday but I can’t imagine the raiders doing this.
I believe only a team that is absolutely in love with Murray or Haskins. Nobody is going to give the “ guideline” value for a none QB.

It's a starting point for negotiation. If that is the basement offer then there is room for more.

Jurecki also brought that up to Keim, and Keim laughed and said "what draft chart is Gruden looking at?", then he also said if Gruden wants to trade he has his number.

I think it was just Gruden being Gruden and making small talk with a guy attached to the Cardinals.

But... re: Oakland

They produced 12 sacks in 2018 and a potential premier pass rusher is available at #1.

Pause for thought... IMO.
They gave up on Mack last year for picks. They're not going to trade said picks for a pass rusher. There's a lot of good talent there throughout the other picks they have.

Mike mayock has railed for years against giving up draft capital to move up in the draft.

The old raiders are dead now IMO.

He's a "more arrows in his quiver" kind of guy.

I wonder who we would take at #4. I kinda hope with resign Golden and draft Q. Williams. That dude is an animal.
I don't know anything about anything.

Well, I do know QW is the top 4-3 DL in the draft.

I'd prefer him as well. With golden and others under the new system, I think our pass rush will be fine. Especially if QW is shoring up the middle.

Why not trade a few picks at the upper end for a potential premier pass rusher they control for 5 years at reasonable cost?

Maybe but this draft has a really good pass rusher which is what OAK really needs. If more teams become enamored with Murray it could drive up the price.

One of the big issues here is the concept of re-signing Golden. That'll have to happen before the draft, and we're going to end up blowing a lot of money if we do so, or broadcasting our intentions. I think it'll be our most telling move.

Because that team isn't moving from Gruden and needs to be filled out with "his" guys. The Raiders can afford to be bad for one more year in Oakland while they build the belly of the team and move on to Vegas.

If they wanted an elite guy, they had him - potentially the best defender in the NFL.

Who says Bosa isn't a Gruden type of guy?

And they moved on from Mack because of cost.

I don't think re-signing Golden will broadcast any intentions. Golden won't see a long term deal if he returns here, with his injury and relative lack of production since his breakout season he is going to have to prove himself. Him being back still wouldn't stop the team from drafting Bosa anymore than bringing back Gunter would mean Q. Williams wouldn't be drafted.

I'm not saying Bosa isn't a Gruden kind of guy, but this is just a different kind of steep cost. I mean, there's a chance of anything happening, but it's not at all a logical move or something we should really be counting on.

There's a better chance of someone falling in love with a QB, but at the end of it all, I just don't think anyone's moving up.
