One of the most revealing moments from Mike Green's appearance on The Lounge Podcast came when he discussed the differences between Baltimore's previous pass-rush philosophy and the one being implemented by Jesse Minter. Green believes the Ravens' defensive front is poised to take a significant step forward as the scheme becomes more aggressive.
According to Green, last year's approach often emphasized discipline and containment, particularly against mobile quarterbacks. While that philosophy had its benefits, he feels the new system better matches the skill sets in Baltimore's edge room.
Green stressed that different coaches have different philosophies and that finding the right fit is important for maximizing a pass rusher's impact.
The Ravens have invested heavily in their defensive front, adding Trey Hendrickson while pairing him with young talent such as Green, Tavius Robinson, and Zion Young. Green believes Minter's system aligns well with that group's strengths.
For a Ravens defense looking to generate more pressure in 2026, Green believes the foundation is already in place.

"I feel like last year we was a little bit more containing, a little bit more conservative," Green said. "But I think now it's like, 'Yo, go attack the quarterback. Do your best moves.'"

"You kind of have to shape around your pass rushers and what they're good at," Green said.

"When he came over here and we're going over the philosophies and things like that, it aligned up to what a lot of us bring to the table," Green said.

"So yeah, I'm excited for myself and also the other guys in the room that are pass rushers," Green said.
