The Midwestern State men's soccer team made history over the weekend, and wants to share their success with as many people as it can.
The Mustangs defeated Rollins 2-0 on Sunday, Dec. 14, in an NCAA Division II championship match at Weidner Field, home to the USL Championship team Switchbacks FC in Colorado Springs. The victory secured the first national championship for the Mustangs (19-3-3) in program history, avenging a 2-1 loss to Rollins in the 2010 national semifinals.
MSU is asking the Wichita Falls community to join them in welcoming home the men's soccer team, which is scheduled to arrive in town around 8 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

"Wear Maroon and Gold, grab spirit gear, wave the banners, and help us celebrate our Mustangs," Midwestern State said in a release.
The victory over Rollins (14-5-5) occurred thanks in part to MSU allowing four shots and notching its 15th shutout of the season and fourth clean sheet of the NCAA Division II men's soccer championships.
Sune Espevoll ended a nil-nil tie, which was the score at halftime, by converting a corner kick opportunity into a goal in the 56th minute. With the 1-0 advantage, Liam Pritchard added an insurance score in the 86th minute as the defense closed the door on the historic victory for Midwestern State athletics.
Pritchard, who was named the MVP of the men's soccer championship, ended with one goal and four assists through five matches during the postseason tournament.
Alan Rivera and Parker Plaxco, both forwards, defenders Davis Mays and Jaime Villagomez and keeper Jake Morris were named to the All-Tournament team.
