EAST LANSING — February has featured some of the biggest challenges of the season for the Michigan State women's basketball team with a loaded stretch featuring games against the two of the Big Ten's best in UCLA and Michigan.

And the Spartans struggled in that stretch, dropping four of five games.

MSU took out those frustrations Wednesday, Feb. 18 with a dominant senior day victory over Northwestern.

The No. 16-ranked Spartans had five players score in double figures while ending a two-game losing streak with their 104-68 win at Breslin Center.

The result marked the largest margin of victory in Big Ten play this season for the Spartans, who improved to 21-6 and 10-6 in the Big Ten.

MSU picked up the win while shorthanded and played without starting guard Rashunda Jones and reserve Juliann Woodard, who each left a Feb. 15 road loss at Michigan with injuries.

Senior Grace VanSlooten had her third 20-point game of the season and had a team-high 22 points and seven rebounds, while Kennedy Blair had a double-double with 17 points, 10 assists and added seven rebounds.

Senior Marah Dykstra and Sara Symbolic each scored in double figures for the second time this season while aiding the win. Dykstra tied a season-high 14 points and scored in double figures for the first time since Nov. 28 against Temple. Sambolic, who started in place of the injured Jones, finished with 13 points.

Grace Sullivan finished with a game-high 23 points to lead Northwestern (8-18, 2-13).

MSU returns to play Sunday, No. 22 when it travels to face No. 23-ranked Minnesota in its final regular season road game.
