Fresh off a national championship, Michigan is bringing back a key member of its starting lineup. Junior point guard Elliot Cadeau told ESPN’s Pete Thamel Thursday that he has agreed to a deal to return to the Wolverines’ roster for his senior year.
Cadeau was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player after dropping a game-high 19 points in Michigan’s championship win over UConn this week. The mark was his best performance of the NCAA tournament, as Cadeau stepped up to lead the Wolverines to victory.
Cadeau transferred to Michigan this year after two seasons at North Carolina, where he struggled to make a significant impact. With the Wolverines, though, Cadeau thrived as the team’s starting point guard, averaging 10.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game across the season.
Michigan dominated the Big Ten this season before rolling to a championship in head coach Dusty May’s second season. And they did it with a very transfer-heavy roster, with four of the Wolverines’ starters transferring from other schools ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Two members of Michigan’s lineup, Yaxel Lendeborg and Nimari Burnett, are graduate students and are out of eligibility. But, in addition to Cadeau, May will hope to bring back the other two starters — junior center Aday Mara and sophomore Morez Johnson Jr. — for next season.
On top of that, the team will have some additional help from the transfer portal, with Tennessee big man J.P. Estrella set to transfer to Michigan for next season.
