There was never really a doubt, but you never know.

Michigan basketball point guard Elliot Cadeau -- the most outstanding player in the Final Four -- had announced his intention to return to Ann Arbor for another year, but yet, he ended up also declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft. Though he wasn't expected to stay in, there's always a chance that an evaluation ends up being more favorable than anticipated and that things can change on a dime.

However, Cadeau wasn't invited to the formal NBA combine, which essentially was writing on the wall. On Saturday, per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Cadeau is officially set to return to Michigan basketball after having withdrawn from the NBA draft.

Michigan’s Elliot Cadeau is officially withdrawing from the 2026 NBA Draft and will return to school next season, per his agent Drew Gross.

An expected decision, but one that lays the foundation for the Wolverines to have another major run in 2026-27.

Cadeau had admittedly entered the draft in order to gain momentum going into next season. This past year, the former North Carolina point guard had his best season yet, averaging 10.4 points per game en route to being named MOP after the Wolverines' national championship game win. He scored 19 points in the final game of the year, helping the maize and blue past UConn to win it all.

He has one season of eligibility remaining.
