The Michigan men’s basketball team will be taking a foreign tour this summer.

The program announced Monday that the Wolverines will travel to Lithuania and Croatia on Aug. 21-29 and will play three exhibition games during the nine-day trip.

Michigan is slated to face the Lithuania national team on Aug. 23, the Lithuania B team on Aug. 24 and Serbia’s Mega Superbet on Aug. 27. Game times are TBA.

“Any time you can get a group together in the summer and actually play games, it's huge,” coach Dusty May said in a statement. “This trip gives us the chance to compete, learn, and spend time together before starting the fall semester. On top of that, they'll get to experience basketball in a different part of the world, which is pretty special.”

The overseas trip grants Michigan 10 extra preseason practices, per NCAA rules, and will give May and his staff more time to work with a revamped roster that’s bringing in three transfers and six freshmen.

The summer tour — which will be funded by private supporters through the Michigan athletic development department, according to the release — is the program’s first since it traveled to France and Greece in 2022. Before that, Michigan went to Spain in 2018, Italy in 2014 and Belgium in 2010.
