I have mixed feelings about it but I really think that Michael Bennett is the guy that DG will bring to AZ.

Sure Mike Tice has said publicly that none of the RB's are going to be traded...Mike Tice also said the Vikings weren't talking about trading Moss...and that he didn't scalp Super Bowl tickets....there ya go.

I have not followed Bennett much but my impression is that he is injury prone. However, he played two seasons at Wisconsin and then played two seasons at Minny before having his first significant injury.

Here are two stories about the foot injury that sidelined Bennett in 2003:

This one says Bennett has never had a serious injury before this one:

This one states that the foot is not healing properly:

His second injury occured in 2004 and was a knee sprain...no major knee damage:

On his first practice back from the knee sprain, he re-inured the same knee (torn meniscus). The same injury that Boldin had last year.

Here is a general article on Bennett with quotes from Hargrave and Green:

http://www.nfl.com/news/2001/MIN/bennett_spotlight_010823.html

Bennett did start the last 5 games of 2004 for a playoff team and ended up playing in 13 games.

In 2003...he finished the year starting 6 out of the last 7 games, including a 5.3yd avg against us in the McCown to Poole game.

Again...I think this is our new starting RB and if he can be had for a 3rd rd pick...ok...and even better if it's for NE's 3rd pick. For those Shelton fans...it might also mean Shelton stays.

Seems to me like we just got rid of Starks for the same reason. He got injured every year.

Yep...but Starks wasn't a DG guy and maybe he see's it differently if you have 3 guys playing RB vs counting on your #1 CB to be healthy 16 games/yr?

I don't want a running back who needs directions to the endzone.

In true Viking tradition...

HE IS GOING THE WRONG WAY!

On the sideline...

The first guy is laughing...

The second guy is pointing at the Packer Goaline...

The third guy is saying "STOP".

At this point, and I'm going to get jumped on here, I would be willing to the Vikings a player and a 3rd round pick for Bennett.

Bennett is the perfect back for us. We know exactly what we would be getting and he would not be expected to carry the ball 30 times a game. He is only 26 years old. He is fast and averages almost 10 yds per catch as a reciever.

Another reason he is perfect for us is because it would give us the greatest flexability on draft day. We could (and should) draft Williams or Brown if they were still on the board at #8. I doubt that they will.

He would allow us to take the BPA at #8. Me thinks that will be a CB. We will still need to pick up another back in the draft, but we wouldn't HAVE to take him in the 2nd round.

The Vikings have Smith, Moore and Williams along with Bennett. I believe that they might not be looking to move Bennett, but I also believe they could be persuaded with the right offer.

He would fill a big void. He won't cost us the farm. He knows Green and his system. He is a back that could be here for the next 5 or 6 years.

I can't think of any downside here except that he has been prone to getting nicked up. But he dosen't have near the wear and tear on him as a lot of these other guys that we've been discussing.

How about Shelton for Bennett? I know everybody thinks we will get a second round pick for Shelton but I don't see that happening. The Vikings have McKinnie at one tackle position but are weak at the other. I would rather have Bennett than Henry. Maybe we could have the Vikings throw in another draft pick like their 5th round.
