Momentum continues to build around the possibility of a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade this offseason, with some league observers believing a deal could be completed before the NBA Draft.
Several of the teams that explored acquiring the Milwaukee Bucks superstar at the trade deadline are reportedly revisiting those discussions, and the Miami Heat have emerged as the franchise many executives view as the favorite to land him.
While Miami is viewed as a strong contender, questions remain about how a deal would affect the team’s roster construction. According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Eric Nehm, one major concern is the potential loss of depth that could come with acquiring Antetokounmpo, particularly if a trade package includes key contributors such as Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Another obstacle is whether that type of package would be enough to convince Milwaukee to move the Greek Freak in the first place. The Bucks could receive stronger offers elsewhere, as several other teams are in a position to put together more appealing combinations of young talent, draft assets, and financial flexibility.
“Meanwhile, the Bucks are on the lookout for a deal that includes a blue-chip young star or a massive quantity of picks,” Amick and Nehm wrote.
“And while there are quality players and picks in any projected Heat offer, it’s not hard to imagine other teams offering a stronger package if the Heat’s aggressiveness improves the market.”

League executives have also questioned how Antetokounmpo would mesh alongside Bam Adebayo in Miami’s frontcourt, making their potential on court fit another key factor in any discussion surrounding a possible partnership.
“While Adebayo is a three-time All-Star and six-time NBA All-Defensive Team honoree, he is — despite taking 5.5 3s per game (31.8 percent) last season — not much of a floor spacer,” Amick and Nehm added.
