The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to keep their season alive on Wednesday night. Despite making some runs throughout the game, the Minnesota Timberwolves proved to be too much once again, defeating the Lakers by a final score of 103-96.
While the end of the season is always a negative unless it ends with a championship, Los Angeles has a bright future ahead.
Along with this season came the blockbuster trade for Luka Doncic. He will be the face of the Lakers for many years to come and will keep the franchise in NBA Finals contention for years.
Now, the team simply needs to build a better roster around both him and LeBron James, assuming James returns next year.
Following the Los Angeles loss in Game 5, Metta Sandiford-Artest spoke out with an optimistic message about the Lakers' future.
"I thought the Lakers build great momentum leading into next season," he wrote in a post on X. "The team they put together is solid. Finishing 3rd in the west was not expected. Solid season Lake Show."

Rob Pelinka has some work to do. Surrounding Doncic with more talent will need a strategic approach, especially if James returns for another year.
Along with adding more talent will come more chemistry between Doncic, James, and the rest of the key players who will be back for the 2025-26 season.
Despite the frustration that Los Angeles fans are feeling, there is a lot to look forward to. With a strong offseason, the Lakers should be right back in the playoff mix next year.
