MOOSIC, PA (WBRE/WYOU)— The Syracuse Mets scored twice in the first inning, never trailing on Friday night as the Mets defeated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 8-1. Mets top pitching prospect Jonah Tong recorded nine strikeouts in the winning effort over the RailRiders.
The Mets righty was dominate in the win, tossed 4.2 innings and allowing just one run on four hits. The Syracuse bullpen finished the job, as three relievers went 4.1 innings of scoreless work.
Shortstop Ronny Mauricio led the offensive efforts for Syracuse. Mauricio finished the game 2-for-5 with 4 RBI. Mets infielders Ryan Clifford and Ji Hwan Bae each added a pair of RBI in the win.

The loss on Friday is the first Friday night loss for the RailRiders since early June. The two teams will continue the Triple-A Subway Series on Saturday night. First pitch on July 25th is at 6:35pm.
