Jorge Polanco is officially on the injured list.

The Mets placed the infielder on the 10-day IL with a wrist contusion prior to Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Carlos Mendoza said that this was a possibility on Friday as the Mets were still waiting on results from an MRI Polanco underwent on his wrist during Thursday's off day.

The issue first flared up following Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, the team didn't think anything of it at the time, but they decided to send him for testing when it didn't feel better the next day.

Polanco had been making good progress as he worked through an Achilles issue, and now he'll have time to sit out and make sure that he comes back full healed.

"It's getting to a point now where we have to see if it's best to just let it come down, and get him right," Mendoza said Friday. "We thought that he was trending in the right direction with the foot, but now this came up on Tuesday after the last game that he played."

Polanco has struggled in the early-going, with just four of his 10 hits going for extra-bases.

He also hasn't appeared in the field in weeks, being limited to strictly DH duties as he's bounced in and out of the lineup since the Achilles issue flared up on him in just the second game of the season.

With him sidelined, the Mets will lean on Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and MJ Melendez to handle 1B duties.

In a corresponding move, Hayden Senger has been recalled from Syracuse.
