Mets get bad news on Christian Scott as another pitcher hits injured list originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Mets are having a rough 2026 season, as they've not only struggled but they've also seen a lot of their stars get hurt. The rotation has been one spot hit with some tough injuries.
They've already lost Kodai Senga, Clay Holmes, and Tylor Megill to the IL this season, and they're now losing another key pitcher to injury.
According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets are losing Christian Scott to the injured list, as the Mets are losing another starter to the IL this season.
Mets lose Christian Scott to injured list
"The New York Mets' vulnerable rotation is losing a key member for at least the short term with right-hander Christian Scott headed for the injured list, league sources told The Athletic on Monday," Will Sammon reports.
What makes this so tough for the Mets is that, as Sammon reports, Scott's injury is one that's "not immediately clear" right now. He does report it's not expected to be a lengthy absence, as it's a "minor" injury.
That's at least some good news, but it's still a brutal blow for the Mets to lose Scott this season due to an injury that requires an IL stint.

This season for the Mets, Scott, the 27-year-old right-handed rookie, has a 3.10 ERA in nine starts with a 1.35 WHIP, 47 strikeouts, and 19 walks allowed in 40.2 innings pitched.
Nolan McLean, Freddy Peralta, Sean Manaea, and Tobias Myers will have to pick up the slack with Scott on the IL. David Peterson might return to the rotation with this injury, or the Mets could recall Jonah Tong to the MLB roster for another big league stint.
It's a tough blow for the Mets, who are struggling to avoid a total collapse this season, as they're 32-39, 14 games back in the NL East, and 5.5 out in the NL Wild Card.
Scott is landing on the injured list and will miss a few starts this summer as the MLB trade deadline on August 3 is steadily approaching.
