Bo Bichette entered Tuesday night really scuffling at the plate. He hadn't hit for power since joining the New York Mets -- and even his singles hitting was limited.

But then the departed Toronto Blue Jays infielder found the perfect medicine.

On the mound for the Washington Nationals was Zach Littell.

Entering the night, Littell had allowed 11 home runs already this season.

Bichette led off the bottom of the first, and he didn't waste any time. The first pitch was a fastball out over the plate. Bichette swung and connected.

He roped an opposite-field home run on the first pitch Littell threw.

Talk about finding a way to make yourself feel better.

Bichette went on to add a walk and a sacrifice fly on what was a quality night for him and for the Mets' offense in an 8-0 victory.

It doesn't guarantee anything going forward. Maybe Bichette won't hit against pitchers not named Littell.

But sometimes, hitting is a lot like the 3-point shooter who they say needs to just "see one go in" to wake up the shooting stroke.

Bichette is a pure hitter, and changing his uniform shouldn't have changed that. Maybe he's dinged up -- that's something Mets fans have speculated about.

But if Bichette is healthy, he should hit, even if he's started slow. And there's a very good chance that getting to face Littell, and homer the other way, will prove to have been the perfect medicine for Bichette.
