All bad things must return. | Jim McIsaac / Getty Images
Every single game in this early spring,
See the Mets have been losing this thing.
Yes, it could hit thirteen if the Twins can make a scene:
Score runs, that’s what I’d be choosing.
Though it’s fun, they gave up an early run,
But they battled back for a bruising.
—-
Would they score? Yes they can,
But we’ve no ecstasy.
That wasn’t in our plan:
Did a favor for Citi.
—
And Prielipp, we can claim, showed some of what he throws,
Although he left the game losing, there’s no woes:
Still we depend on Buck,
Letting fly a tying truck,
Thats all he has to do, enthusing.
We were fine, but soon our fans whine,
Crying, “Oh why’ll we care for this team we’re, we’re, we’re choosing?”
—
Would they score? Yes they can,
But we’ve no ecstasy.
That wasn’t in our plan:
Make them waver in Citi.
—
No way: left the bases all full.
All day missing pitches to pull.
The ‘pen must fall behind:
They will, and when, don’t lose your mind!
(Lose? Whose loss to find?)
(It’s spooky.)
—
It won’t work:
Bullpens can fall asleep,
It was tied in the later frames,
Which of two would keep losing these close games?
Never quit, keep coming through,
Gotta press for the W,
What to do if we should watch you losing?
You will find that one team must fall behind,
Keep in the mind you cannot rewind
The finish you’re choosing.

—
That’s it: another ‘pen collapse.
Oh crap: we should have taken naps.
Sandwich summed it up precisely:
Cant win if they won’t pitch nicely.
—
Would they score? Yes they can,
But we’ve no ecstasy.
That wasn’t in our plan:
We went and did a favor for Citi,
Did a favor for Citi.
(No more streaking
(It’s gone.)
