Watertown and Aberdeen area golfers have continued to make their mark in 2026 South Dakota Golf Association Championships over the past couple of weeks.
The SDGA Men's and Women's Match Play Championships were held Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
The SDGA Junior Cup took place on Monday, Aug. 3, at the Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.
The SDGA Adult-Junior 15-and-Under Championship took place Sunday, July 26, and the SDGA Boys & Girls 15-and-Under Championships on Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28, at the Hart Ranch Golf Course in Rapid City.
Here's some highlights from each of the tourneys:
ABERDEEN — Brandon Sigmund, a 51-year-old golfer from Mitchell, took home the championship on Aug. 2 with a 3&1 victory over Radley Mauney of Hartford.
Sigmund topped Carter Peterson of Sioux Falls 1-up and Mauney beat Parker Edens of Brookings in 19 holes in Sunday's semifinals.
Harper Schnabel of Aberdeen and Bob West of Watertown both advanced to the Round of 16. Schnabel lost 2&1 to Dakota Munger and West lost to Jeff Meyerink of Mitchell 4&3.
Jake Olson of Watertown, the defending champion, did not qualify for the Round of 16.
Other area golfers in the field incluided McKay Parr, Colby West, Ty Lenards and Jaden Solheim of Watertown; Max Pfeiffer, Damian Freudenthal, Koos O'Kennedy, Lucas Daggett, Cramer Johnson and Peyton Brust of Aberdeen; Seth Hettick of Roscoe, Blaize Amdahl of Webster, Jonathan DeBoer of Twin Brooks and Bryce DesLauriers of Clark.
ABERDEEN — Allison Meyerink of Mitchell topped the field topped Maddie Childs of Mitchell in 19 holes to claim the championship on Aug. 2.
Meyerink needed a long birdie putt on the 18th hole to pull even with Childs.
Meyerink opened the day with a 3&2 win over Brynn Roehrich of Watertown in the semifinals. Childs outlasted Rylan Horning of Rapid City in 19 holes to win the other semifinal.
Other area golfers in the tourney were Mikayla Santjer, Olivia Braun, Danielle Podoll, Kyley Wirebaugh, Claire Crawford and Genevieve Golz of Aberdeen; Avery Palmquist and Gabi Olson of Watertown; Sage Gaikowski of Waubay and Olivia Knox of Doland.
PIERRE — Kenzley Heath of Sisseton (14-15 girls) and Madden Stein of Watertown (12-13 boys mini tour) each won division titles in the 2026 SDGA Junior Tour Cup that took place Monday, Aug. 3, at the Hillsview Golf Course.
Other area golfers included Mason Vosika of Warner (fifth in U9 boys), Cynthia Graeb of Estelline (sixth in U9 girls), Luke Snyder of Aberdeen (sixth in 10-11 boys), Madison Wegehaupt of Aberdeen (sixth in 10-11 girls), Dekker Vosika of Warner (seventh in 10-11 boys), Braylen Liebl of Aberdeen (eighth in 12-13 boys prep tour) Brody Sternhagen of Watertown (sixth in 12-13 boys mini tour), Aubree DeVine of Aberdeen (second in 12-13 girls), Lydia Schafer of Watertown (fourth in 12-13 girls), Hayden Liebl of Aberdeen (seventh in 14-15 boys), Greyson Zebroski of Watertown (eighth in 14-15 boys), Kaiden Weinreis of Doland (fifth in 16-18 boys), Ellis Johnson of Aberdeen (fifth in 16-18 girls) and Ava Crooks of Astoria (eighth in 16-18 girls).
RAPID CITY — Genevieve Golz and her father Nathan Golz of Aberdeen repeated as the 12-13 girls division champions with a 12-over par 84.
Paisley and Ryan Neale of Watertown took second in the 12-13 girls division with a 91.
Stuart Stein of Watertown teamed with his daughter Macie to tie for second in the 14-15 girls division with an 85 and with his son Ethan to tie for second in the 9-and-under boys division with a 40.
Greyson-Troy Zebroski of Watertown took third in the 14-15 boys division with an 85, Madison-Robert Wegehaupt of Aberdeen fourth in the 10-11 girls division with a 47 and Miles Moench-Scott Witlock of Aberdeen fifth in the 10-11 boys division with a 42.
THE WESTS: Former Watertown High School golfers win SDGA Two-Man Amateur tourney
RAPID CITY — Genevieve Golz of Aberdeen shot an 8-over par 80 win the 12-13 girls division championship.
Kenzley Heath of Sisseton finished third in the 14-15 girls division with a 9-over 153 (76-77).
The Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen will host the Women's Mid-Amateur, Senior and Masters Championships on Saturday, Aug. 8-9.
The Senior and Masters Two-Man Championships are set for Aug. 22-23 at the Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, followed by the Mid-Amateur and Pre-Senior Two-Man Championship Aug. 29-30 and the Hillcrest Golf & Country Club in Yankton.
The Men's Pre-Senior, Senior and Masters Championships are scheduled for Sept. 12-13 at the Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.

SIOUX FALLS — Clark native and professional golfer Kim Kaufman will host a "Mother-Daughter Huddle" on Monday, Aug. 10 at Great Shots.
The event, schedule from 1 to 2:45 p.m., will feature an engaging Q&A session, live demonstrations and more.Registration is open to mothers and daughters of all ages and costs $20 total. All proceeds go towards the Sanford Sports Scholarship Fund to support youth sports.

A fierce advocate for women’s health, Kaufman helped organize breast cancer screenings for the field at the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship during her battle.
Kaufman won four state Class B championships at Clark High School. She then attended Texas Tech University, where she was ranked the #1 golfer in the country in the fall of 2012.
