Meet Louisville-area high school girls athlete of the week nominees

The nominees for this week's Courier Journal girls athlete of the week delivered on Louisville-area softball fields.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal's girls athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:

Allie Carter, Bullitt East softball​

Freshman was 3 for 3 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs in a 14-3 victory over Assumption on March 31.

Kaylee Harris, Atherton softball​

Junior was 3 for 3 with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs in an 11-0 victory over Sacred Heart on March 31.

Joanna Logsdon, Presentation softball​

Freshman was 4 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, two stolen bases and four RBIs in a 15-5 victory over Valley on March 30. She also struck out 12 over five innings.

Payton Russell, Manual softball​

Junior was 4 for 4 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs in a 14-3 victory over Fern Creek on March 31.

Josslyn Woosley, Male softball​

Freshman tossed a two-hitter and struck out six over six innings in a 10-0 victory over Boyle County on April 2. Also went 2 for 2 at the plate with three runs scored.
