The nominees for this week's Courier Journal boys athlete of the week delivered on Louisville-area tracks, lacrosse fields and baseball diamonds.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal's boys athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:

Nehemiah Kiser, Male track and field​


Sophomore won the 800-meter run in 1 minute, 51.72 seconds at the KHSAA Class 3A State Championships on May 23 at the University of Kentucky, helping the Bulldogs win the team title. Kiser also was a member of the victorious 4x400 relay team.

Earnest Perry, DuBois track and field​

Junior won the 100-meter dash in 11.05 seconds at the KHSAA Class A State Championships on May 21 at UK, becoming the first state champion in DuBois history.

Armen Smalley, Spencer County track and field​

Senior won the long jump and triple jump at the KHSAA Class 2A State Championships on May 22 at UK.

Colin Teeley, Trinity lacrosse​

Senior scored with one second left to give the Shamrocks a 9-8 victory over St. Xavier on May 20 in the KHSAA state championship match at Great Crossing.

Colton Zuege, St. Xavier baseball​

Senior tossed a two-hitter and struck out 11 over seven innings in a 7-0 victory over Christian Academy on May 20 in a quarterfinal of the Seventh Region Tournament.
