Aug. 15—On Wednesday the Meadow Greens — Ramsey Ladies Golf Club held their annual Club Championship. Players were put into one of four flights based on their current USGA handicap. Each flight awarded the low gross winner, and then one to four low net winners depending on the number of players in the flight.
In the Championship Flight, Karen Baier took the low gross win with an 85, and Marilyn Ryks was the low net winner with an 82. First Flight winners were Patty Shatek with a low gross of 104, first low net went to Linda Youngmark with a 74, second low net went to Joyce Anderson with an 84, third low net went to Pat Busker with an 85, and fourth low net went to Barb Ruhter with an 86. The Second Flight low gross winner was Carmel Taylor shooting 111, first low net went to Judy McGuire with a 78 (tie broken by handicap hole), and second low net went to Jan Thissen with a 78. Third Flight winners were Ardie Pepper with a 110, first low net was Sheila Cotter with a 79, and second low net went to Barb James with an 83.
Contests were held on various holes. Ardie Pepper made the longest putt on hole No. 5, and Sheila Cotter dropped the longest putt on hole No. 16. Closest to the pin contests were held on holes No. 12 and No. 15, with Karen Baier winning on both. Longest drive contests were held on hole No. 11 and were separated by flights. The longest drive in Championship Flight was made by Karen Baier, First Flight longest drive went to Sandy May, Second Flight longest drive was made by Mary Jo Swoboda, and the Third Flight longest drive went to Joy Blaser.
Chip-ins were made by Joyce Anderson on hole No. 5, Janice Perrigo on hole No. 8, Judy McGuire on hole No. 9, and Mary Christian, Barb Ruhter and Mary Jo Swoboda all on hole No. 14.
