Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl wants to make it clear — Bayern Munich is not ruling out another loan deal for João Palhinha this summer.
Asked whether Palhinha could only leave on a permanent transfer, Eberl pushed back on that idea and explained that Bayern Munich are open to different possibilities — including a loan with a significant fee.
“I’ve never said that [only permanent]. We have to see. There are many different possibilities nowadays. It could be that someone says: we’re ready to pay a high loan fee, then you say: okay we have to accept. I can’t push João to a particular club, and João can’t tell us: I’ll only go to go to a particular club, and the other club can’t tell us: I’ll only offer you this and nothing else. The talks take place between 3 parties. And it has to be a fit for everyone,” Eberl said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That leaves the door firmly open for Palhinha to depart on loan again if the right proposal arrives.
Bayern Munich would presumably prefer a permanent sale to recoup a significant portion of their investment, but Eberl’s comments suggest the club is willing to consider whatever structure makes sense for all three parties.
With interest in Palhinha continuing to develop, the Portuguese midfielder’s next move could ultimately come down to finding that right fit.
