Here’s a bit of news you did not want to hear:

#Cubs Matthew Boyd is getting surgery on his meniscus. Will be out for the foreseeable future.

So. This very likely ends Boyd’s season. For now I’d guess Javier Assad will take that rotation spot and that Jed Hoyer will accelerate a search to trade for a starter.

Obviously, more to come as this is breaking news, and tough news for Boyd and the team.
