The Saints improved to 58-43 this season with a 6-3 defeat of Columbus on Sunday afternoon at CHS Field.

St. Paul never trailed in the finale of the six-game series after taking a 2-0 lead on Matt Wallner’s 18th home run of the season also plated Kaelen Culpepper in the second inning.

Wallner also smacked a solo homer in his next at-bat and went 3 for 4 with five RBI and two runs scored.

Tristan Gray also had a multi-hit day by going 2 for 4. Ben Ross went 1 for 4 with one RBI, while Culpepper went 1 for 3 with two runs scored. Aaron Sabato and Walker Jenkins also scored one run apiece.

Reliever Garrett Acton (3-0, 1.42 ERA) claimed the win with two innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts. Eric Orze earned his first save for the Saints by tossing a spotless ninth.

St. Paul has Monday off before beginning a six-game series at Omaha at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night.
