Marseille’s opening bid for Himad Abdelli rejected

Olympique de Marseille have seen an opening bid for Himad Abdelli (26), worth €2m plus bonuses, rejected by SCO Angers, according to a report from RMC Sport.

Abdelli is highly-coveted by OM, as well as Olympique Lyonnais, and has just six months remaining on his deal with Le Sco. However, Angers will not be bullied into selling their playmaker on the cheap. Marseille’s opening offer falls short of expectations, with Angers demanding a fee of €4m.

Abdelli himself has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Les Phocéens. Should Roberto De Zerbi’s side find an agreement with their counterparts at Angers, the Algeria international would sign a five-year deal.

Angers would also like Neal Maupay, a peripheral figure at OM in recent months, to be included in the deal. They would like to sign the former Everton, Brentford, and Brighton and Hove Albion forward on loan until the end of the season, but RMC Sport understands that there is little chance of that happening.
