The Marquette men's basketball team returns to Fiserv Forum on Jan. 19 to face Providence after back-to-back losses on the road last week.

One of the few positives recently for the Golden Eagles (6-13, 1-7 Big East) has been the improved play of sophomore forward Damarius Owens.

The Friars (9-9, 2-5) have the conference's highest-scoring offense at 88.9 points per game, but also a defense that gives up a league-worst 85.3 per game.

Marquette's probable starters

Guards: Nigel James Jr., Chase Ross, Adrien Stevens

Forwards: Caedin Hamilton, Royce Parham

Marquette vs Providence prediction

The Golden Eagles had their best first half of the season at DePaul before falling apart after halftime. Providence's leaky defense will give MU chances to convert. Can the Golden Eagles' defense get its own stops? MU does just enough to get a much-needed victory.

Prediction: MU 81, Providence 79
