Randy Arozarena and the Mariners scraped across a walk-off win against the Twins yesterday to even the series at a game apiece. The Mariners followed up this rather underwhelming victory by trading Luis Castillo to the White Sox. The move doesn’t necessarily signal a buy or sell leaning for the Mariners yet, and only have one more game left to decide which way to go before the deadline. George Kirby gets the ball for what could possibly be his last start as a Mariner today at 1:10 PST.

In Mariners news…​

  • La Piedra is on his way to the south side. It is incredibly regrettable that the end to Castillo’s Mariners career feels so unceremonious, as his arrival here was arguably the beginning of the era of Mariners baseball we find ourselves in now. Hopefully his departure doesn’t signal the beginning of a different era.
  • In exchange for Luis, the Mariners received Seranthony Dominguez, most famous in Seattle for allowing the grand slam to Eugenio Suárez in game 6 of last year’s ALCS, the once promising prospect Nolan Jones, and the now promising catching prospect Boston Smith.
