OXFORD — Oxford’s annual Mardi Gras 5K Run is scheduled for Choccolocco Park next month, bringing a burst of color, costumes and community spirit to a popular spring tradition, according to a recent news release from city officials.

The event, scheduled for March 14, welcomes both seasoned runners and casual walkers to the park’s scenic course. The race begins at 8 a.m., with on‑site registration opening at 7 a.m. All participants will receive an official event shirt.

City officials said pre‑registration is available online or in person at the Oxford Civic Center for $17, while members of the Anniston Runner’s Club may register for $15. Day‑of registration costs $20.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, along with the top three competitors in each age division. Categories span from 14‑and‑under to 70‑and‑up, with no duplicate awards issued.

The online registration link is accessible through the Parks and Recreation Department’s social media page. The Oxford Civic Center is located at 401 McCullers Lane, and Choccolocco Park is located at 954 Leon Smith Parkway.
