Mardela Baseball player wins Delmarva Now Player of the Week

The spring season for high school sports in Delmarva has reached its midway point, as teams have completed half of their regular season schedules and have an eye on the postseason. A lot of big games have taken place recently, and this week's Delmarva Now Player of the Week winner performed quite well at the plate for his school's baseball team.

Mardela Baseball's Ethan Roberts is the Delmarva Now Player of the Week for Apr. 7-13. During the Warriors' big win over Colonel Richardson last week, Roberts went 3-5 at the plate, scoring two runs and recording an RBI. Roberts won the award with 60% of the vote.

Coming in second place this week was Stephen Decatur baseball player Justin Udzielak, who pitched a complete game no-hitter in the Seahawks' victory over Wi-Hi last week.

Here were the nominees for this week's Delmarva Now Player of the Week:

Leah Smith (Broadwater Academy Track and Field)

• Won the varsity discus final at the Norfolk Academy Track Meet, and won the discus final, pole vault, triple jump, and shot put at the Arcadia All Comers Meet last week.

Ethan Roberts (Mardela Baseball)

• Went 3-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI in their win over Colonel Richardson last week.

Ava Reid (Delmar Girls Soccer)

• Scored two goals in their win over Sussex Tech last week.

Justin Udzielak (Stephen Decatur Baseball)

• Threw a complete game no-hitter in their win over Wicomico last week.

Cory Fisher (James M. Bennett Baseball)

• Threw a complete game no-hitter in their win over Crisfield last week.
