The Boston Bruins could soon add James Hagens to the roster following the end of his college season at Boston College.

Boston selected Havens seventh overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, and he returned to Boston College this year. Yet, with his season now over, it was rumored that Hagens would sign, but nothing has been done.

However, after practice on Monday, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm was asked about Hagens potentially joining the lineup, and he seemed to be open to the idea.

“It’s always a challenge for everyone,” Sturm said. “The good thing is with me, over the past, especially in Ontario, I always had college kids coming in. Maybe not (the skill of) Hagens, but they were college kids at the end of the day, they hadn’t played against men. It’s always a challenge, but I’m prepared if it happens.”

Hagens could be a top-six forward for the Bruins and add some speed and skill to the lineup. At Boston College this past season, he recorded 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points in 34 games and was named a top 10 candidate for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given to the best college hockey player.

Although Sturm is open to the idea of Boston bringing in Hagens, nothing has been done yet.

The Bruins will return to the ice at home on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
