Before the NCAA tournament truly gets underway, the final 64-team bracket must be set.
For the women, that will be settled in four First Four games at on-campus sites across the country, with a pair of games scheduled for Wednesday. The winners of the four First Four games will advance to the full 64-team field.
No. 11 Nebraska and No. 11 Richmond will square off in the first game of the night before No. 16 Missouri State and No. 16 Stephen F. Austin play in the nightcap.
Nebraska and Richmond will play the first game of the NCAA women’s tournament slate in Durham, North Carolina. The winner will secure the No. 11 seed in the Sacramento 2 region and advance to face No. 6 seed Baylor in the first round.

Advanced metrics favor Nebraska (18-12). The Cornhuskers finished in 12th place in the Big Ten (7-11), but their NET Ranking of 28 suggests that they were underseeded. Their WAB (wins above bubble) ranking rates them lower at 39, but still slightly above where an 11 seed would be expected to fall.
Richmond (26-6), meanwhile, finished in third place in the Atlantic 10 (15-3) while playing an easier conference slate than Nebraska. The Spiders rank 37th in NET rankings and 50th in WAB. They’re 0-2 in Quad 1 matchups compared to Nebraska’s 1-10 record against Quad 1 teams.
Per Bet MGM, Las Vegas also likes Nebraska to win: Nebraska -3.5, -165 money line. O/U: 138.5
Missouri State and Stephen F. Austin will play in Wednesday’s nightcap in Austin, Texas. The winner will advance to face host and No. 1 seed Texas in the Fort Worth 3 region in the first round.
Missouri State advanced to the tournament as CUSA champions. The Bears (22-12, 11-7) finished a distant third place to Louisiana Tech (17-1) in the regular season, but upset the Lady Techsters in the conference championship game. MSU ranks 115th in NET ranking and 158th in WAB.
SFA (28-9, 16-6) similarly finished in third place in the Southland Conference regular season and knocked off No. 1 seed McNeese State in the tournament championship. SFA ranks behind MSU in NET ranking (161st) but ahead of it in WAB (124th).
