Manchester United goalkeeper set for £14m Middlesbrough move

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sell goalkeeper Radek Vitek to Middlesbrough in a transfer that could reach £14m.

The goalkeeper has been given permission to finalise a move to the Championship club, following his return from a successful loan at Bristol City.

Vitek had been keen to explore a move and continue playing first-team football, with his path to minutes at Manchester United blocked by Senne Lammens and new signing Karl Darlow.

Middlesbrough are now set to sign Vitek in a deal described by talkSPORT as a £14m package. Manchester United will retain a 35% sell-on clause for the highly-rated goalkeeper, and a buy-back option.

The Czech shot-stopper has never made a first-team appearance for the Red Devils but shone on loan in the second-tier last season.

The 22-year-old earned a wealth of club awards at Bristol City, including the club’s Player of the Year, the Supporters Club & Trust’s Men’s Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year award for 2025/26.

He’s now set to join a Middlesbrough side rebuilding following last season’s near miss with promotion. Boro lost the Championship play-off final to Hull City, missing out on a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2017.
