Teams that make a managerial change hope for immediate results from the move. On Saturday, the Baltimore Orioles had a glimmer of hope before their afternoon game at Orioles Park at Camden Yards against the Washington Nationals.

Well, that did not happen as a bad first inning showed that the Orioles were not ready. Starter Kyle Gibson gave up six earned runs while he was on the mound as the Nationals posted a 10-6 victory. Baltimore scored four runs in the ninth inning, but it was too little, too late. Washington starter Jake Irvin (3-1) took a shutout into the seventh inning before the Orioles scored two runs in the frame.
