Malik Willis will have a golden opportunity to show he can be the long-term franchise quarterback of the Miami Dolphins in 2026.
After reviving his career as the backup to Jordan Love with the Green Bay Packers, Willis parlayed his impressive showing into a three-year, $67.5 million contract in Miami.
Now, Willis will be taking the reins of a Dolphins offense that has seen a massive overhaul this offseason, with the team cutting ties with Tua Tagovailoa (release), Tyreek Hill (release) and Jaylen Waddle.
Willis is already playing his part well, at least when it comes to showing leadership.
While his attendance at rookie minicamp this weekend wasn't necessary, Willis made sure to show up anyway and talk it up with some of the first-year players.
Willis' physique was also very noticeable, as the veteran signal-caller looks to be in phenomenal shape.
Willis faces a tough road ahead in 2026.
As we mentioned, the Dolphins made two significant subtractions from their wide receivers room with the moves involving Waddle and Hill.
That leaves the cupboard very bare and no doubt stacks the deck against Willis.
Malik Washington will return in 2026, and the Dolphins drafted Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas while also adding Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell in free agency.
But that's hardly an adequate supporting cast. Tolbert and Atwell have been very inconsistent during their respective careers, and Bell and Douglas are total wild cards as rookies.
There are also question marks along the offensive line that will only make Willis job more difficult.
