What does "making the playoffs" actually mean this season?

Finishing in the top 10 and being involved in the play-in games?
Finishing in the top 8, even if subsequently eliminated through the play-in games?
Surviving the play-in stage, regardless of what the initial seed was?

"Making the playoffs" loses a lot of lustre if you finish as the #9 seed and lose the only "postseason" game you play. So what's the actual standard?

Imo it’s top 8 and surviving play-In. Anything else is kinda charity playoff.

Good teams in the west but I think if your around with only 4 standing you made the playoffs.

That means top 6? I think playoffs mean you make it to that first best of 7 series. If you're the 10th and won your two games vs the 7th seed and make it to play the best of 7 vs the 2nd seed, I'd consider that making the playoffs.

For me personally I will be mildly disappointed if they aren't a top 6 seed.

I will be very disappointed if they fall short of making the actual playoffs.

If we are talking our expectation it’s 4-5 seed. But I thought this was what we considered “making the playoffs” in this new format.

Keeping it in that lane I would say anything that gets you to an actual playoff series. Otherwise you simply fell short of the playoffs.

Losing in the playin would simply be like falling 1 win shy of the playoffs in the old format.

Taking part in a first round series. If they take part in A play-in scenario that would be disappointing but so long as they win and get past that point then I'd consider that making the
playoffs.

For me making the playoffs means being one of the remaining eight teams in the playoffs after the play-in.

It's a more traditional approach.

In time I will probably expand my definition sort of like Wild Card games in the NFL.

I’m probably right here as well. Getting to a best of 7 series would be awesome.
